This study tour between HUFLIT students and the graduate delegation from National Kaohsiung Normal University (Taiwan) went beyond mere cultural appreciation. It significantly broadened the academic trajectory for our students, particularly by opening up pathways to postgraduate programs in Taiwan – a globally recognized educational hub in Asia.
HUFLIT was privileged to host Professor Lee Leong Sze and a delegation of 30 postgraduate students from the Graduate Program of Southeast Asian Studies at the National Kaohsiung Normal University (NKNU, Taiwan). The event served as a dynamic platform for cultural and scholarly dialogue between NKNU faculty, graduate students, and HUFLIT students.
During the engagement, HUFLIT students were afforded the opportunity to gain comprehensive insight into the study environment and the distinct research orientations underpinning postgraduate education in Taiwan. NKNU representatives delivered detailed presentations on scholarship opportunities, master’s degree admission criteria, and the extensive support services available for international students.

The exchange atmosphere intensified considerably as students from both universities engaged in collaborative cultural activities. Under the guidance of Mr. Tran Dinh Tuan, M.A., a lecturer from HUFLIT’s Faculty of Foreign Languages, the NKNU delegation was introduced to the historical landmarks, cultural hallmarks, and daily life of Vietnam.
Notably, the presentation highlighting Vietnamese traditional attire across different eras generated significant enthusiasm. The moment NKNU graduate students donned the beautiful áo dài, áo tứ thân (four-panel dress), and áo nhật bình (formal court attire) created a tableau that was both dignified and deeply intimate.

Beyond the traditional attire showcase, the program also featured cultural performances, commemorative photo sessions, academic exchanges, and collaborative group discussions. The conversations revolving around pedagogical methods, research experiences, and career orientations were instrumental in helping HUFLIT students expand their intellectual horizons and cultivate a global mindset. Concurrently, the NKNU graduate students were afforded further opportunities to delve into the culture, language, and student life dynamics of Vietnam.

The exchange session concluded in a cordial atmosphere, marking yet another significant milestone in HUFLIT’s international collaboration efforts. This event was not merely a cultural meeting, but also served to unlock academic avenues, bringing HUFLIT students closer to opportunities for advanced studies in Taiwan. Moreover, it powerfully reaffirms HUFLIT’s pivotal role as a bridge for knowledge and culture – a key commitment on our journey toward the internationalization of education.
